Besserbrauer celebrates its three-year anniversary!
Let’s play a quick game. If you think of „Germany“, what do you associate the word to? Bretzel, sausage, cars, beer? Bingo. The Germans love beer and Hamburgers are no exceptions to the rule! While the consumption per capita is not as high as in the Czech Republic or in England, Germany still brews a fair amount of beer each year. And with the Oktober Fest just around the corner, the topic is more current than ever!
Besserbrauer, founded in 2014 by Joerg Iversen and Kathy Gabel, offers the possibility to brew your own beer. Sounds complex? It’s actually super easy, you need very little material and it all comes in one box: the Braubox. With artisanal producing and home-made creations booming in the past few years, Besserbrauer jumped on the right horse. After three years, they are still around and they do better than ever. And there is nothing like a little celebration with friends, investors, and customers to pave the road to another successful three years. And even longer!
Penthouse Schanze
The lucky guests were treated with a beautiful view over the district of Sternschanze. The Penthouse Schanze has a great terrasse and the inside of the loft is no less impressive. A bar with beer of course, but also wine and all sort of cocktails confected by a skilled bartender right in front of your eyes, was the first thing you’d see upon getting in. The mood got cheery in very little time! Fortunately, the Besserbrauer team is not one to leave its guests out in the cold. We were treated with gorgeous food and the barbecue master kept on bringing more grilled meat as the evening went on.
In spite of the excitement, we managed to get some information about Besserbrauer and its numerous achievements. In only three years, Joerg and Kathy, along with part-time student Alina’s help can be proud of what they did: „For us, getting rid of our warehouse and outsourcing the fulfillment was a pretty big thing, declares Iversen. We were quite nervous about if it would work when someone else is producing and shipping our products, but it works really well and now we can fully concentrate on marketing, sales, and product development.“
Next stop: worldwide
Strong from these first steps in Germany, Besserbrauer is already thinking bigger: „We’re currently planning to go international, an English version of the Braubox, the „Brewbox„, is already in the making. We’ll probably start selling in January 2018.“ Along with international business development, the kitchen constantly displays „brewing in progress“ in order to find new recipes. „A ‚Double IPA‚ is coming soon, confides Iversen to Hamburg Startups. And we’re also planning a dark wheat beer and a scotch ale for the winter season.“
Many good reasons to look forward to this winter! Thank you, Joerg for the party and your answers. You get the final word: „Make beer, not war!“
