Finally the time has come – the application phase for the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch has begun! In 2018, startups from all over Europe will again be fighting for a lavish media budget from WELT and a trip to the SXSW Festival in Texas. Here we tell you how you can take part!

There are many startup competitions, but the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch is unique for a number of reasons. For the sixth time, Hamburg Startups invites young, innovative companies from all over Europe to present their ideas and business models at the Kiez. The scene is once again the legendary music club Gruenspan. Five startups will stand on its stage on 19 September and try to inspire a top-class jury and a select audience.

Unique atmosphere and ideal stepping stone

More than 450 investors, decision-makers from large companies, experienced startup people, journalists and many other multipliers from the digital and media industry will not miss the spectacle. The inimitable mixture of club atmosphere and concentrated professional competence enables networking in a class of its own. Many a long-term and successful business relationship has already started there. So being there is quite a lot, but winning is even better. The winners of the last five competitions can confirm this. For Tinnitracks, TripRebel, Antelope, Baqend and Inspirient, the pitch triumph led to great media attention and a powerful career boost.

This year, the winner can look forward to a WELT media budget of 150,000 euros. There will also be a ticket to the SXSW Festival, which will take place from 8 to 17 March 2019 in Austin, Texas. On site we provide access to important networking events and pitches that provide you with valuable international contacts. So there are plenty of excellent reasons to apply for the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch!

These are the conditions of participation for the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch

• Eligible to participate are startups from all over Europe, from all industries and all company phases.
• The pitch will be in English, so all application documents must be in English.
• We need a brief description of the company, which must not contain more than 500 characters.
• A pitch deck with a maximum of 15 slides is also required.

The application phase ends on 10 August at midnight. A board of trustees consisting of numerous experts will select the five finalists on 23 August . You can read about the meeting of the board of trustees last year here. The grand finale will take place on 19 September, the opening day of the Reeperbahn Festival. Before the main competition, the Startupstage will open for the first time, at which startups can present themselves to interested investors in various categories. The iconic lovemobiles are also ready for meetings between startups and experienced mentors. And after the big pitch, the five finalists will go on to the exclusive aftershow with exquisite dishes and illustrious guests. Last year, for example, Dr. Brigitte Mohn, Dr. Jens Spudy, Dr. Wladimir Klitschko and Ralf Dümmel were present.
