Hamburg Startups is a leading, independent, and private startup platform in Northern Germany and advocates for an effective networking and representation of the startup scene. The structure, built with toil and hard work over the past four years, has become a role model for many locations.

Apart from our magazine, various exceptional events such as the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch and HamburgStartups@SXSW,  the team and the founders, Sina Gritzuhn and Sanja Stankovic initiated the Hamburg Startup Monitor, a unique platform, displaying all the startups in Hamburg.

Editorial

Our editorial team examines the startup scene and reports about investments, prizes, exciting events and gathers useful information for founders in the category Tipps & Tricks. We want to write about the success stories of startups in Hamburg and give the chance to young founders to be in the spotlight.

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to receive curated news about the scene. We are a neutral and central platform, at the heart of the information.

Monitor

A good visibility calls for a good overview of the startups founded in Hamburg and how they have developed over time. This is the purpose of our Hamburg Startup Monitor, founded in November 2014. Apart from gathering detailed company profiles, used by journalists, investors and startups as a research tool, it is also used to trace the development of startups. As such it brings more transparency and a stronger network.

The Hamburg Startups Team

Sina Gritzuhn

Founder and managing director, journalist and startup expert

‚The startup ecosystem of Hamburg plays a growing part, not only through the media coverage it gets, but also for investors and established concerns. I make it a personal mission to give to startups and their potential the visibility they deserve.`

The trained journalist was active for a few years in various startups as a press and social media expert until late 2013 when she started working a freelance editor for beebop media AG and the initiative Hamburg@work, writing about the startup scene in Hamburg. At that same time, she took the lead of the Prestigefilmen, as well as Backyard TV Projekt.

She writes about Hamburg and startups in WELT Hamburg Blog. Outspoken social media junkie and startup expert, she is an essential component of the Hamburg startup scene and she feels at home in the Internet world.

With Hamburg Startups, she is deals with the day-to-day business, along with, among other things, the scheduling and the implementing of the Hamburg Startup Monitors and she leads the editorial team. As a top contact person for startups, she usually is one of the firsts to know what the 411 is and she spreads the news with the help of the editorial team. She loves bring people together in a way that synergy and cooperation is achieved.

Sanja Stankovic

Founder, strategist, communication and startup expert

Only structures with unique ingredients and a focus on high quality have a chance of being sustainable in the world of startups. Whoever wants to reach the right position must proceed strategically and bring will added value to the startup ecosystem.

As head of department, as well as member of the board of management, Sanja worked many agencies and companies such as Nordpol+ PR Division Hamburg, segmenta PR und Navigon AG. The strategist curates, among other events, the Hamburg Interactive Day on the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. Since 2016 she is at the head of corporate communication for DS Produkte and Ralf Dümmel, juror in the show „Die Höhle der Löwen“ (German version of the Dragon’s Den)

As a co-founder of the Digital Media Women, the second biggest female network in the digital industry, she advocates for more female founders and female investors.

In Hamburg Startups she is responsible for events, such as the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch and the Dinner, as well as strategic partnerships and business development, among other tasks. As a strategist she is a contact person for companies and they develop together concepts for positioning within the startup ecosystem.

Mathias Jäger

Chief Editor Hamburg Startups

Mathias Jäger is an editor, lives in Hamburg and stands on the front line of the startup scene news. He studied IT and American studies and has been active in the world of media for many years.

At Hamburg Startups he reports about exciting companies and happenings on site, analysing  the various trends and occurrences.

Toni Opelt is from Hamburg and passed her Abitur in 2016. She is currently studying Media and Communication Sciences at Hamburg University.

Wiebke Hallerberg

Wiebke Hallerberg finished her Bachelor in Cultural Management at the Leuphana University Lüneburg and moved to Amsterdam to study her Master in Corporate Communication. She worked amongst other projects in the communication and sponsoring for the Goethe-Institute Mexiko. Since May 2018 she is supporting us with her intercultural skills in Sales and Marketing.

Nora Berkemeier is supporting the team as a working student since April 2018 in the fields of editing and agency. She answers all questions that key accounts or other partners might concern during the events of Hamburg Startups. Meanwhile Nora is finishing up her bachelors degree at Hamburg University.

CTO

Norman Holz is on board as CTO since May 2016. Norman studied IT engineering at the Hasso-Plattner-Institut in Potsdam, Germany and has gathered experience in software development by working at the SAP Labs as well as at the Complete Genomics in the Silicon Valley.

Bianca Koigke passed her Abitur in 2012 and studied media and communication design in the Macromedia Hochschule in Berlin, where she carried out projects for Bosch and the Landwirtschaftsverlag publishing house. She is currently attending the HAW Hamburg where she studies Information Science.
